This is a fantastic event.
It was held in restaurant Ledoyen.
As I will probably drink the 2005 in twenty years ad min, I had not a great motivation to compare every wine. But it was like the Ali Baba cave.
All wines were 2005.
In whites, I drank :
Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne : elegant but needs more years
Comtes Lafon : Meursault, Meursault Clos de la Barre, and Meursault Charmes : what a style ! I adored the two last, having a huge personality. Great wines
Domaine Leflaive : Puligny-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet Clavoillon, Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles : pure bombs. Bombs of pleasure.
Raveneau : Chablis Clos Grand Cru : the wine of the purest distinction.
In reds, I drank :
Marquis d’Angerville : Volnay Champans and Volnay Clos des Ducs : classic wines
Bonneau du Martray : Corton red : I have a weakness for this wine, appealing
Jospeh Drouhin : Beaune Clos des Mouches : elegant and interesting
Dujac : Clos de la Roche : great wine
Michel Gaunoux : Pommard Grands Epenots : my style of wine
Méo-Camuzet : Clos de Vougeot : great wine high promise
Comtes Lafon : Volnay Santenots : highy typed, but I was under the charm of the whites
Montille : Volnay Taillepieds : a sincere wine full of charm, Corton Clos du Roi : a knight, Vosne Romanée Les Malconsorts : full of grace
Mugnier : Musigny : one of the stars of my trip
Roumier : Chambolle-Musigny les Cras and Bonnes Mares : two very great wines, the Bonnes-Mares being a prince
Rousseau : Charmes Chambertin, Ruchottes Chambertin, Chambertin : the coronation of the tasting. The Ruchottes is more performing at this moment than the Chambertin which will become a star
I did not make a precise analyse as it has a limited interest for the moment (I will buy the 2005 in 15 years), but I must say that this year is a wonder. The wines are good, and very good.
What is interesting is that the owners are there. Etienne de Montille, Erwan Faiveley, Eric Rousseau, Anne-Claude Leflaive, and so many others were there, talking nicely to me.
I adored the familial atmosphere of this meeting, as they have not the stress to sell, but the joy to share their wines.
Purely lovely.
